The Children’s Voice Foundation is a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to providing unconditional love and support to orphans around the world. Our mission is to provide hope, Christian love, and support for children during their time in the orphanage with continued guidance after their release.
The idea for this organization took root at Wilsonville Baptist Church in Wilsonville Alabama when our founders listened to a missionary detail her recent trip to China where the group worked with orphans. She described entering a room full of toddlers and all of them lifted up their arms hoping to be picked up and held. One of the founders was touched deeply knowing how much his newborn daughter loves to be held and the thought of those babies lying in their cribs with no one to hold them was heartbreaking. Statistics tell a frightening tale. In Eastern Europe children are released from the orphanage when they are 16 years old to fend for themselves. Within two years of “graduation”, seventy percent will become involved in crime or prostitution and fifteen percent will commit suicide. In China, the children are not allowed to leave the orphanage and become indentured servants for the government – never to marry, go to college or pursue happiness.
The reason this organization was created is found in Proverbs 31:8-9 where it tells us that as Christians we are required to “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Your contribution will provide life-changing benefits such as education, nutrition, clothing, nurturing and medical care where it is most needed.
Our vision is that orphans around the world will have hope, love, support, and spiritual guidance. Every child will have a loving, reliable caregiver. The older children will enter adult life prepared with the skills that will help them succeed.
Our Goals:
· Our immediate goal is to sponsor 15 orphans from the Ukraine to come to the US for two weeks. During their stay, the children will participate in gospel-centered activities including Bible Study and translated worship services. They will also participate in other fun activities such as horseback riding, swimming, visiting the Birmingham Zoo, Visionland and the McWane Center. The orphans range in age from 9-16 and all are available for adoption. We will expose the children to as many people as possible with the hope that at least one of them will be adopted.
· Our first project came to life when two of the founders were researching adoption agencies for their impending adoption. One of the adoption agencies told them about fifteen Ukrainian orphans that were scheduled to come to the US this summer and that the original hosts were unable to fulfill their commitment. Knowing how much these orphans have been let down in the past by their parents and caregivers, the founders of the organization decided to open up their hearts and homes to the orphans.
· Our mid-range goal is to partner with churches, missionaries, and foundations that are currently working with orphans or have a desire to work with them. We will provide the necessary supplies for these missionaries to meet the needs of the orphanages they serve. Where possible, we will employ local people to spend extra time nurturing the orphans through holding, rocking and singing to the babies and reading to the children.
· Our long-range goal is to sponsor new missionaries in areas where they are needed most. These missionaries will establish and oversee safe houses for children being released from the orphanage due to age limit. The children will have the opportunity to develop working skills to prepare them for adult life.
Our Statement of Faith:
1. The Bible is the infallible and everlasting Word of God.
2.
God became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. He was born
of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and bore our sins on the
cross at Calvary. He then rose from the grave victoriously,
thereby defeating sin and death. Through God’s grace,
salvation and eternal life are given to all who call upon
His Name.
3. There is one triune God in the form of the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Spirit.
4. God has called us all to the Great Commission of Matthew 28:19 & 20 “Make disciples of all nations...teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”.
Our Beliefs:
Through His Word, God is clear about what He would have us
do:
We must take care of orphans and widows;
James l:27 – “Pure and undefiled religion in the
sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and
widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by
the world.”
Our
actions speak louder than what we say;
l John 3:18 – “Dear children, let us not love
with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”
We
must do for others;
Matthew 25: 35,36, & 40 – “For I was hungry
and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave
me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me
in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you
looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me”....
“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the
least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
We
must;
Proverbs 31:8-9 - Speak up for those who cannot speak for
themselves. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of
the poor and needy."
